Something has been on my mind for the past 5 years of my life. Now, I've never been a big beliver in religion (please don't kill me. it's perfectly fine if you have faith), but a few months after I saw AVP in theaters, something hit me!
What if aliens really did help humans get a start on life?
With that thought in mind, I've been researching different types of Gods, the Mayans, cave paintings, pyramids, etc. In a strange way...it all seems to make sense to me. Sure there are some plot holes here and there, but I'm not the only one thinking this!
In Transformers 2, (S P O I L E R!!!!)
Alien robots made pyramids. (which also kinda sparked this thread)
I feel crazy thinking all this, but I can't help it. I even read the book, "Charriots of the Gods" which talks about how it may have been possible that aliens came to Earth and taught us how to do stuff.
Anybody else "somewhat" believe this? Or am I just crazy?

Well, it would kind of make sense.
Aliens come to Earth, Humans become a rapidly advancing society.
Aliens leave Earth, and everything falls apart, Overestimating how much humans can handle, I guess.
But all cracks at early human society aside, I'll say I doubt it. If anyone did come to Earth that long ago, why leave? It's a perfectly good planet, the only in this solar system actually capable of supporting life, and there's plenty of resources. Small, but suitable. If a species were smart enough to come to a planet like Earth, I think they'd also be smart enough to stay or at least leave behind a colony. It's hard on logic if they just came in, helped out a species, then packed up and left.
And to explain the pyramids, I'll stick with the rolling logs theory; They chopped down some trees, tied together the logs, and wheeled the stones around on ramps. It's not perfect, but it's good enough for me. But as always, I remark, 'We may never know/Who knows for sure?'

Well, First I'd like to state I'm Christian, of the Baptist denomination.
Ok, now that I have said that. My personal belief is that Aliens if the do exist would have stayed and possible took over our civilization. Like Cap' said why leave the only Planet that can possibly sustain life? Especially if you have a race of primitive creatures to do your bidding.
But, all in all I don't think thats why the Aztecs and Mayans disappeared and all that. Rampant Viral strains and the like seem WAY more likely. Just my opinion. I don't mean to cause a debate on the subject of Religion. That's just my opinion. That's all I'm gonna say on the subject.

you could say I'm Christian even though I don't really believe in religion as an organization, however that aside, I'm also a big believer of the supernatural. It is true that there are many mysteries revolving around the construction of many of our world's great landmarks, however the whole mystery about them is what makes them a wonder. For example, If we were to take the path of man, I would imagine the pyramids being constructed ala old Cleopatra film style. But the pyramids are not the only that that invoke a mysterious feeling to them. Take the giant stone heads of Easter Island as another sample to what I understand, the material used for those sculptures is not something you could easily find in the area in which the heads are found. That type of rock must have been hauled from a considerable distance in order to be where it now stands. If you take into consideration the shear number of stones that had to be transported and the shear size of each, it makes you wonder if there really was enough man power in an island to drag such material. Despite the credibility we give the the power of man, we must also keep in mind that man can be very ingenious and hard headed when he wants to truly accomplish what he wants and believes. A man's will has the power to change the world... or so I've heard. If we were to take the path of the aliens on this matter, there is the issue of why they vanished from here considering the resources this planet has to offer. I could be because of one of the following reasons: - If we were to consider aliens as benevolent beings who just wanted to help out those who yet have much growing to do, The left so that man can finish maturing on their own. Just like a parent with grown children, you would want them to stand on their own feet and experience the world with their own eyes.
- If aliens really just considered this to be a gold mine and man as a beast of burden, perhaps there came a point in which man tire of oppression revolted and drove the aliens out. Much like in Stargate the humans of earth revolted and drove Ra out.
- If we were to maintain that aliens were benevolent beings there is also that fact that man can be driven by greed. Perhaps in some point in time, man bit the hand that fed them.
There so many possibilities but to find which one is the truth is close to impossible at the moment. Only the eyes of time past know what truly happened. Perhaps time herself will give us the answers in the future.

Just throwing in my opinion, please feel free to correct any mistakes i might make.
I personally think that it may be possible that an alien species did in some way help the early civilizations on Earth. I think that the pyramids is the perfect example of this. It has been scientifically proven that a correctly constructed pyramid does have some "powers" that doesn't have a logical explanation. And i can't understand how a primitive culture, or ours for that matter, could ever comprehend the math involved in the construction of a structure with those powers.
"The Egyptians believed the dark area of the night sky around which the stars appear to revolve was the physical gateway into the heavens. One of the narrow shafts that extends from the main burial chamber through the entire body of the Great Pyramid points directly towards the center of this part of the sky. This suggests the pyramid may have been designed to serve as a means to magically launch the deceased pharaoh's soul directly into the abode of the gods."
To me it sounds like they believed heaven was is the sky, maybe because their "gods"/aliens came from there. Just a thought.
There are many mysteries on this planet that we might not ever know, or even understand.
And about why the aliens would leave if they had indeed been here before might be that they didn't like us. I mean since the dawn of man humans have fought each other. It's part of our nature.
Fact is we might never know. The universe is immense, i do think there is life outside this galaxy, and i do think something has been here before, but i doubt we will ever know for sure.

Insane? I think not. That's harsh Crazy? Slightly. But, who isn't??? Open minded? ....Yes. I do tend to think outside of the box. I always have. Thinking the same way everyone else does hasn't always been a healthy living for me. I would try to backup some of the issues discussed here, but I fear I'm offending other peoples beliefs even though I'm not exactly telling anyone on here that they are wrong, it's just nobody is right either (that includes me as well). You know what i mean? *waits to get shot* (>__>) I can not discuss these things in real life, with real people. That is why I am discussing it here. Its been on my mind for a while and I've been wanting to share my thoughts, that's all. I can see a few somewhat understand. *ahem* but, about the aliens leaving.... this is just my own little somewhat-thought-out-b.s. theory (It's a bit jumbled) They raised and taught us the basics. Either we are their creations or native organisms. We might have been a struggling race in need of some help. Unknown forces saw potential in us? They taught us, left, but...they are still watching. This could explain abductions, UFO sightings, etc.(this is just to connect links). Although, I'm still highly sceptical of such things. I'm actually torn between two theories with aliens. The second one deals with the Government and is 50 billion times more realistic. They make UFO's, test drive them, people freak, etc. Why won't they tell us? Because they are protecting our country from other countries. If spys ever found out what is going on in our secret Government, they could easily take it and use it against us. Aliens do exist, but for them to ever travel to another galaxy is unlikely. But, on the other hand, I can't get myself to ignore ancient stories/mysteries that have been written and told so long ago. That's what seems to turn me back to my first theory. Humans think they know everything. That's what has always pissed me off.

That's what seems to turn me back to my first theory. Humans think they know everything. That's what has always pissed me off. Calm down mate. If you can't laugh at being shot at, don't stick your head out of the ditch. Then again, that would be insane, so nevermind. Just take stuff with a sense of humor, it's never serious on here. Sort of. Anyway, just how far back are we talking here? Aliens when we built pyramids, or aliens when we made fire, or aliens when we were protists? First off, assuming aliens are responsible for our creation completely invalidates the entire fossil record and evolutionary evidence we have, so unless these aliens were responsible for planting life on this planet in the first place, the whole idea already has problems. Second, it invalidates the theory of abiogenisis. While that's not the key issue, the problem ensues when we start figuring, "Where did the Aliens come from?" Third, you're automatically dealing with the Anthropomorphic problem. The issue at hand being that we, in a form of hubris, assume any alien organism or artifact follows the same rules we do. How do you explain the concept of killing to that which cannot be killed? The chances of any other organism that arose naturally in the universe perceiving reality and logic the way we do is infinitesimally small. Fourth, if these aliens were around during say, Ancient Egypt, why do we have no solid record of their existence? You could start interpreting Egyptian mythology as a record of aliens and not Egyptian Gods, but this would completely contradict all other religious records from cultures all over the world. And since all these cultures developed the same kind of technology, it would stand to reason that if aliens were responsible for it, all cultural recordings would be consistent. But they aren't consistent, they are contradictory, as religions usually are. Fifth, once again, why would any sentient alien beings bother to help us out for the sake of it and leave? Do we put cattle in a safe enclosure and then leave them there? Do we raise sheep to be nice to them? Do we cultivate bacteria because we think they're cute? Once again utilizing the anthropomorphic problem, we shall assume these aliens would reason the way we do and feel the emotions we do, and conclude that the only reason for - not helping, but literally cultivating us - would be for personal gain. In which, leaving would make no sense. You don't leave cattle unattended. Sixth, if there existed any alien technology, the most logical course of action would not to be suppress it, but publicize and covet it. If it is of military nature, we would use it as a tool of deterrence. We do not hide the existence of nuclear weapons, we show them off. North Korea would not threaten a country with a space-laser-vaporizer. Spies can know we have them, we can even tell them we have them, and it wouldn't matter because they would not have the ability to construct it for themselves. They know we have it, but not what it is. If it was of a utility nature, then there would be no reason whatsoever to suppress. It would be a great benefit to our country, and act as a potential trading resource to bolster relations with other countries and strengthen alliances. You do not suppress the cure for cancer, you publicize it and build off it. Seventh, you mentioned that our 'secret' government makes and tests UFOs. They would not be Unidentified Flying Objects, they would be our own air-force. Do you call the F-22 Raptor a UFO, or one bad-ass piece of hardware? -- As far as I can tell, there is no empirical evidence whatsoever for the existence of sentient life-forms more technologically advanced than us. We have found aliens: bacteria. Which may or may not have been contaminant. Further, there is no evidence that they aided the development of our civilization. All records are conflicting with eachother, and do not consistently support an alien being arriving, teaching us to write, and leaving. Finally, if the government does all this top secret stuff and refuses to tell us, how did you come to know about it, and why haven't you been arrested and shipped off to the Lubyanka?

Well, i think the answer to that might be Who would believe us anyway? There is no point in believing something that is completly unsupported by anything. The idea that aliens did anything besides leaving stonehenge to fuck with us in humanity's devolopment or progress is absolutely insane. Like I said before, but apparently didn't post, the idea that this happened, that somehow those that recorded history just left out the fact that they were assisted by a group of FUCKING ALIENS, is ridiculous. Sorry, I can't see how it happened.

Okay just to put my 5cents worth of thought in here.
I do think there IS life somewhere else. Surly we humans are not the only sentient beings in the whole galaxy. I mean who knows maybe aliens did help the human race.
Why did the Aztec, Mayans etc have so many gods? I've looked and read bits and pieces of stuff just for the hell of it. Some of the Aztec gods sounded pretty weird to me. Like the god of the hunt and death. Anyhow how do we know humans were not taught by lets say Yautja or something like the big eyes big headed green aliens.
Lets just say the yautja are or might be real. And they taught us. Why did they leave? Well we fight allot we humans are almost always fighting. They aliens IF they helped us might have left and see how bad everything is turning out that they don't want to come back.
Also IF aliens did visit us again, we probably wont know about it because of the government and such. Since they don't want us to 'panic'
Well there is my 5 cents worth of input. Call me insane if you want I don't care really LOL ^_^.

I do think there IS life somewhere else. Surly we humans are not the only sentient beings in the whole galaxy. I mean who knows maybe aliens did help the human race. It's fairly reasonable to think that there is life elsewhere in the various galaxies out in space. It is far too vast a place for only a single location to be able to support life. It may not be life that is comparable to the way our existence is supported, but it is certainly a possibility. However, the speculation that this other life form has visited Earth at some point to give the human race a nudge in the right direction is a little far fetched. It certainly is strange, especially when studied by those that do not believe in these various gods. Various gods were assigned to various aspects of a life in many religions. Consider how the Christian God might look to them. I would think they'd see it as very strange that a different group of people could believe a single Deity could by in charge of every aspect of life. There are just far too many things happening for one Being to be able to watch over and control them all. And so, in a way it would make sense to have created a number of different Higher Beings to watch over these events. Many different cultures believed and do believe in several different Higher Beings, some of which share similar traits, but for the most part they are all fairly different and distinct from one another, much like Orthrus has already said. There is no solid evidence of any Alien interference in human history, especially when basing such things off of religious belief. Also a question that has already been addressed. There really is no reason for any alien being to interfere with the humans just to pack up and leave afterward. If you're still running along the lines of Yautja being the ones to drop by, then I doubt our tendency to fight would be any reason for them to leave. They are a society built upon honor and the hunt. If anything, I would think they would use the humans' tendency for aggression to their advantage, rather than for any sort of reason to leave the planet behind. In the Yautja universe, they hunt creatures that do little else beside act aggressively toward those around them. Take the Xenomorph, for example. These creatures are driven to expand and protect their hive. There is no way to train them into acting more docile and cooperative, and therefore the Yautja use their aggression to their advantage and hunt them. Also, abandoning this planet simply because they don't like how we run things doesn't make much sense, either. To put time and effort into shaping a society in a certain way just to abandon it when it starts attempting to break that mold makes no sense. It sounds more like a over-sized temper tantrum to me, rather than any sort of valid reasoning. There have been various people who claim to have seen some sort of otherworldly aircraft. The government has not carried them off in black bags to keep the general public from panicking. The public knows about this. There are occasional television shows that show the public footage that these people have captured of these unidentified crafts. We know about it, and for the most part no one worries about it, probably due to the trust that most hold in the capabilities of our military, believing that our weaponry could kill or wound something that is not from our world. Chances are that if people believe they have seen something like an alien aircraft invading our skies, there is little that could prevent the public from gaining knowledge about one of those crafts landing and depositing an alien life form onto our soil. People always seem to have all these conspiracy theories about the government when it comes to aliens. If we were truly meant to be kept in the dark about these things, UFO's and their alien pilots would most likely not be something that just about everyone knows of. If they had ever visited us and interfered with us in some way, chances are people would know about it, much like the occasional 'alien abductions' that some people claim to have been victims of. If they had visited us and dropped by for yet another visit, chances are we'll hear about it. Most people of course write it off as nothing but nonsensical blabbering by unstable minds, and in most cases it may be just that. Until solid evidence is provided, no one is fully going to believe in this sort of thing. I'll just side with Orthrus and wait for that pink unicorn to trot by.

Okay just to put my 5cents worth of thought in here. I'm about to rip your 5 cents apart. I wholeheartedly agreed up until the aliens helping human race thing. Why would aliens help us? We couldn't give them anything of any real value. I think they'd be busy with much more spectacular things than fulfilling Earth's Make-A-Wish foundation. Because they knew something had to make everything, so they believed one deity controlled it's own thing. Not that strange really. There's some pretty fucked up shit in nature too. Doesn't mean ALIENS did it. The Aztecs were pretty weird people too, I don't think they're who you should look to for wholesome sanity. They had to hunt for food, so they came up with a god of the hunt. Holy shit. BECAUSE IT WOULD HAVE BEEN RECORDED SOMEWHERE IN HISTORY. No.

Eh I'm used to things I say getting torn apart.
Well no maybe yautja re not real but we never know. Anyhow yes it might have been recorded. Allot of things have been recorded true.
Why would aliens help us?? Answer: Hmm I don't know. Maybe felt bad for us? I honestly don't know. It's just a thought is all.
Yes something had to make all this. And I know they had allot of gods. One of a few for water the sun and etc. I'm just agreeing with HuntressLunarKwei. And others on here.
I know this, I know this. Heck I'm weird to some people. Anyhow I was just making an example ok?? The Egyptians built their pyramids to line up with the 3 stars of Orion's Belt. Thats pretty weird right.
So yes there are allot of weird things here on our planet, but whats to say we were not helped out by some different being from outer space?
Uh I know but how many recorded things from a very long time ago have lasted, besides the pyramids?
Sorry if I confuse anyone I have a odd way of thinking. ^_^.
