Now that the "tens" are well past us, I'm sure we've all had our share of gaming experiences over this last decade, as It saw the release of the next generation consoles, new ways to play games, and probably other things.
There were a lot of great games, and some games that just shouldn't have been released at all.
Here's a few games worth noting from the past 10 years:
2000: Jet Set Radio
The game that gave us the term “cell shading” still looks impressive today. A perfect mesh of graphics, concept, gameplay and soundtrack. Territorial vandalism has never been so much fun.
2001: Grand Theft Auto 3
At the start of the decade many old series got left by the wayside as they couldn’t make the jump from 2D to 3D. The opposite applied to GTA – it was begging for a fully 3D world to explore, as you really got the impression of being in a living breathing city. Developers are still playing catch up to this title today.
2004: Half-Life 2
If Half-Life 1 paved the way for the first person shooters of the future, Half Life 2 went one step further and set the benchmark itself. With epic set-pieces, gorgeous graphics and more atmosphere to shake a crowbar at, Half-Life 2 is still a classic today.
The list is long, but I won't fill the rest of the thread with endless names of games.
Of course there was also a lot of let downs, Resident Evil 5, The Force Unleashed 2, Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories etc.

For me, I think Brütal Legend from 2009 Is The most Äwesome/Ëpic game ever conceived. A stunning soundtrack, the most Brütal world one could imagine, and Jack Black as the lead character saving the World of Metal from Punk loving SM enthusiastic Demonic Overlords, what more would you want? Oh and Ozzy Osbourne is in it.
Going back a little further, Grabbed by the Ghoulies from 2003 is very much one of my all time favies. Even bought it on Xbox Live recently. I've always loved the Supernatural, ghost stories, hauntings, Halloween all that junk, and this game really portrayed it in a rather unique and very entertaining way. Everything in the game just resonated with me, even to this day.
But, my Game of the Decade is without a doubt Alan Wake. 5 years in the making, created by the people who gave us Max Payne, Alan Wake really delivered a gaming experience rarely found in any games. There's nothing i can say in words that sums up the feeling I get when playing this game, I can only recommend anyone who can to give it a try. Make sure to turn of the lights, and turn up the volume.

But enough of my frankly pointless, and boring rant. What was your game(s) of the past decade, and why did it impress you so much that you feel It deserves such a prestigious title?
