How the hell do we have Irish, Mexican, English, American, and Russian members here, without a single drinking thread?
So, this is for random discussions, opinions, and suggestions about beer, whiskey, vodka, tequila, gin, congac, cocktails, and other less common drinks.
Consider this a bar amongst friends. Chat about whatever, with drinking at it's basis.
So to start with, Lager or Stout?

How the hell do we have Irish, Mexican, English, American, and Russian members here Ahem. Although on the topic of drinking, I should mention that while I was in Germany last spring, I found out that the legal drinking age over there is 16, so I could potentially have become wasted and not gotten into any trouble. I bet it must be a lot of fun to break the laws of one country in another and rub it in their faces ;D. Problem is, the first sip of wine I had was a little, 'stronger,' than I expected, so I passed on the heavier stuff when it came around. Really, how can people my age tolerate stuff that bitter?

How the hell do we have Irish, Mexican, English, American, and Russian members here Ahem. Well what can I say? Stereotypes are fun, and I can't be blamed for missing out on equally deserving peoples. Well...ok maybe I can be blamed. But hey. Oktoberfest ftw! Well, firstly I and all kin was exposed to wine when we were 2. And were continually exposed to it with each every visit to church. The Orthodox church doesn't like diluted wine it seems. Still, a spoonful never did any harm did it? As to how people tolerate it....I can't tell you. Hell, I can't tolerate any bad drink, be it beer, scotch, or vodka. If it sucks, it sucks. Once you try good quality drinks though, the answer is self-evident . For some reason, I never could tolerate whiskey at all. Granted, I've never had real quality whiskey, but still, it just can't take it. Makes me want to gag out my tonsils. Vodka was always ok, right from the first time I had a shot, goes down fine. Can't explain it with stereotypes, because Cerby downs scotch like it's club-soda.

I'm not fussy with beer, but the best I've had is a type called Tiger Beer we got in Nam. When we were on a boat we just walked up to the barman and asked for two beers, charged to the room. Despite the fact we were clearly underage he either didn't notice or didnt care, or has a beer-pouring fetish he cant control. Anyways, the stuff was nice.
But I prefer spirits. Vodka, for the Russian half of me.

Being Mexican, I tend to drink beer, but I prefer liquor. Especially when I'm faded. Speaking of which who here thinks Jim Beam is bomb as fuck?

I have never even touched Jim Beam. If you want to talk about Bourbon, or anything related to whiskey, you've got to start ranting at Cer. Really, we need to bring this place back to life a bit so I could drag him back in here.

Well, I'm sorry for being a pretentious elitist but I don't particularly like cheap whisky. Because it's cheap for a reason. If nothing else is around, well Jim Bean, Jack Daniels, sure they're the best quality for the amount of cash required. But if you can afford it (I just save up,) then a bottle of high quality Johnnie Walker is bliss.

BEEEEEEERRRRR. Sorry, but for a drinking topic, 10 posts just simply isn't enough. Basically, as far as alcohol, I'll take anything, preferably beer, but whiskey is quite the treat once in a while. I think I've consumed the equivalent of a hospital room in vodka too. I'm a cheap bastard though, I've been known to drink shitty shit quite often. Anyone else a cheap drinker, and have no problem with it?

This Is a correct observation, so I'm gonna revive this.
First off, I'm Danish for those who haven't guessed it. And for a good number years Danish Teenagers (of which I am a part of) have had the world record for binge drinking. At least that's what they keep telling us on the news. Yeah we drink so much we fit It in between Tornado's, and the weather.
Personally, I'm a Whiskey/Beer guy above all else.
I prefer the American Budweiser simply because It doesn't have mountains of taste, so Beer Enthusiasts doesn't go monkey shit about it, and 5% alcohol.
For Whiskey I prefer Irish because I like the spelling better. Tullamore , and Jameson are my personal favorites.
Though for pure effect I lean more towards American Whiskey's like Jack Daniels.
By the way, has anyone else ever tried a 4 Horsemen?

E du dansk Rathborne? Yeah I know how them Danes do haha! When I use to live in Malmo, Sweden we use to take the ferry over to copenhagen all the time, until the bridge was built, after that we took the train over there... But the messed up thing about that happened later was, I guess the Swedish government complained to the Danes too much and then the Danish government ordered the shut down on my favorite place, Christiania... The pigs ran up in there and cleaned house, I mean I know the place is still there, but at the time I left Sweden it was not the same... Anyway on topic, the Danes, the Spanish and the Mexican's have my favorite beers which are: Tuborg, Carlsberg, San Miguel and corona.. unfortunately though my doctor has told me I can't drink alcahol anymore.. I never was a heavy drinker anyway, but a beer every once in a while would be nice...

Yep. There's good news on that front. We're buying It from the government. So now, when It's all paid off, the government wouldn't have any reason to raid It anymore. It'll be free once again. That's a bummer. I feel for you.
