I heard of this a few months back, but I haven't really kept up with its production. I saw a trailer on YouTube which it turns out was just a prototype, so if you're interested to see it...
Now, by prototype, I assume they meant it was simply designed as an attention-drawer - which kind of makes sense, given it looks a little low budget for a big title like Halo.
Me myself, not such a fan. But I do enjoy the cinema, so I'll keep my eyes posted for it. I already regret not seeing Wolverine Origins when I had the chance, even if Leiv Schriber wasn't such a hot deal.

I'm not into HALO. I'm surprised to say that I am interested in what will happen after I saw this preview.

HUGE HALO fan. But I am so sick of hearing and seeing supposed progress on a film which had begun production like 5 years ago and has never gotten past concepts.
Far as I know its still in development hell. As for the title thats a rip off a Eric Nylund, Official Halo novel, thats the Prequel to the first game Halo:Combat Evolved.
From what I can see, That trailer is BS and nothing is being directed yet. Let alone by Peter Jackson. So I'll keep an open mind but I'm very jaded on the HALO THE MOVIE subject.

Thank you to everybody whose posted so far. And i'm glad that so many people will go see it.
Captain Gojira, I think the movie clip that you got is dated. I believe its from either the first or second attempt on making a halo movie. But an interesting watch nonetheless.
Jungle Hunter 87, there have been several pitches for different Halo Movies. The very first movie to be made was to take place based on the event of Halo 3 (which makes no sense). This one didn't get very far at all. The next pitch was to take place on the events of the first Halo game. This one also crash-and-burned. These two movies have been all the rage for however many years. now, a new movie (which i desperately hope works) is to be a prequel to the first Halo videogame, therefore clearing up the storyline, and delving into how the SPARTAN's were trained.

Yeah, I know. But whats the point when its been DONE already? I know how they were trained. Eric Nylund told that story. I don't care to see what we didn't read like, that time Chief was taking a piss outside the barracks and Mendez hit him with a stun rod. Really. It's pointless. If anything its an Adaptation of the Novel which is, yet again, pointless.
Also this isn't going to be a Prequel to the games, as thats the whole point of HALO:REACH . The upcoming Bungie game. I'm satisfied with the 7 books or so and the 4 games already out and am anticipating the ODST expansion pack.
My general reason for not liking the idea is that-
A. I've been let down to many times during this brainstorming of what there gonna do for this first film.
and
B. All, or at least, 96.7 % of all Video game movies suck.

The point of any movie, wether it be an adaptation or not, is to have fun. i think it would be fun to see what Peter Jackson comes up with. Theres no point to it, sure, but what is the point of any movie? To have fun. Plus, not everybody's read The Fall of Reach. And most people who play Halo don't go and read any of the novels, so they would be confused as to how and why the Pillar of Autumn was in the middle of space, light years from UNSC asistance. And they probably had no idea how the chief got back to Earth in a ship w/o Slipspace capabilities if they hadn't read First Strike. so another reason to make the movie besides for recreational purposes is to fill in the non-obsessed halo fans.

Which is why they can play HALO:Reach next year. Once again, pointless.
Well if they did ask those questions then they most likely would have cared enough to read the novels or at least the wikipedia articles.
I don't.
I'd also like to add, ah, no shit. Obviously a entertainment franchise is going to want to have its product in ANY media, to be Fun.
Now, do I think it will a fun movie if it ever gets made in my life time? Yes. Will it actually do anything more then that. I'll have to reserve that opinion till it comes out.
It's hard to believe that the masses that bought HALO 2 and 3 to play it only on Xbox Live to PWN no0bs would actually give a shit as to what happened in the fake Master Chief universe.

LMAO. I just got owned! ;D Those are all good points, and i now feel like a dumb blonde. Anyways, i guess that i'm the only one who thinks it would be cool to have a movie adaptation of the game (or vice versa). No they wouldn't, that's your inner nerd talking. before i read all the books and became the Halo Uber-Nerd i am today, i had bought Halo 2 and went through the whole game without regards to the movies or storyline. I just played it for the hell of it. I wondered what happened on Halo: Combat evolved, but i didn't care enough to go look it up. Would i have seen the movie if it came out the day i beat Halo 2? Yes. I also wondered (once i Got Halo:Combat Evolved) Why the Pillar of Autumn was in the middle of nowhere. I didn't care enough to look it up though.See what i mean? I cared about the series, but not enough to go look it up. It wasn't until i beat Halo 3 and understood the storyline that i started to become obsessed. I plead the 5th. Finally! we actually agree on something! Really? I think they would give a numerous amount of shits to see it. They wouldn't produce as many shits as you or I, keep in mind, but I bet they would still go and see it.

Yeah, . I'm cool with it. I don't really care. I would just hate to see them ruin the movie. Like everything else they do that isn't in game format. Well, cept the books.

Halo was ruined for me after it became a cesspool of 10 year old psychosis and idiocy. Perhaps these games would be better if they never came along...fun as they are. It used to be the clear victor of such things, until Cod4 came along, which easily takes the cake.
Halo remains a close second, nonetheless.

Personally Orthrus, what semi-ruined it for me was Halo 3. What Microsoft should've done was just ended it at Halo 2 like was originally planned. But Bill Gates wanted to make a sizeable profit by making the series into a trilogy. Anywhooooo........ Does anybody else have an opinion on this movie(or the games)?
