I was wondering what kind of hobbies the different people on this forum have, besides Predator and Alien. I was wondering because it seems as if a lot of the people on the forum like the same kinds of music, we obviously have a love for vicious science fiction monsters in common, and I wanted to see just how far the similarities went. Besides, its a good way to connect with different people throughout the forum, and it can help you get some insight into what kinds of threads will become popular in the Off-topic section. A myriad of uses, if you will. For me, I read, write short stories, sketch pictures of Aliens, Predators, and my roleplaying characters, play DnD (haven't lately, though, as it turns out I'm the only person in my age group in my entire county who both knows the rules and has enough social skills to get along with other living human beings for more than 10 minutes with threatening someone mortally, making an innuendo joke, or complaining needlessly about unrelated things nobody in their right and sane mind is interested in...), work on a video game that I'm making through a program called 'Game Maker 7', watch TV, hang out with friends, play the viola and the guitar, find different flash games on the computer. (Currently, the flash games I like to play are Heli Attack 3 (available on a myriad of websites), More Mindless Violence (good stress reliever, can be found at gametazer.com/games), and Age of War (a strategic game in which you play your way through the Stone Age, Iron age, Renaissance, Modern age, and finally destroy your foe in the futuristic age, through the use of different unit types, special attacks, and turrets on your fortress. Can also be found at gametazer.com/games.)), study different subjects (currently interested in biology), practicing with my bow and arrow (have to wait for summer for that one, plus the next few), blacksmithing in my back yard with a friend of my mom's, playing soccer and baseball, swimming, and fishing. Also enjoy sledding (not enough snow here for that at the moment), video games (really should be much, much higher on the list), and listening to music on my iPod.
I look forward to seeing what other people play, and remember, I doubt anybody is going to judge you for your hobbies (unless you're some kind of kitten murderer, or serial killer, or something like that. But, that's more of a psychological disorder than a hobby, so I guess that really wouldn't fit here.) so feel free to tell everyone what you like to do. Who knows, you might find someone who likes the exact same things.

Hmm, well I could write for a couple pages if I were to include every last hobby I ever had, but I could ramble a bit. As far as media goes, I'm first and foremost(obviously) of a fan of Godzilla, possibly the most famous iconic Japanese movie monster anywhere. I've been a fan since I was six or something, when I first saw the american remake(Which, yes, I have tolerance for), and since then I've seen just about every movie of the series, though I skipped on some of the earlier ones. Of course, having been accustomed to a more mature atmosphere, I naturally enjoy the later movies more. Most Godzilla movies from 1965-1979 were child oriented, and hard to compare with the later installments. Other than that, still a huge fan. After that comes, in a fair and honorable second, A/V/P, which I can't say much more than I met some people on YouTube and got drawn in to the franchise. Finally, I'm also a Hellsing Fan... as you could guess from my signature and avatar if you're familiar enough with the series. Sadly, The Captain is all that keeps me interested After this, I'm a fan of several sci-fi/horror features and series you could mention, excluding a select few. And of course I can't forget Fringe, probably the best Television series I've yet to see on Fox. It's best described as a hybrid of CSI and X-files, as good as any hybrid has been, and ever will be. Now, moving onto activity hobbies... I used to do martial arts, which kind of runs in the family(Dad was a black-belt and instructor, mom was a blue-belt around the same time), but that kind of hit a bump when I suffered a couple of injuries that cut me short of that hobby. I occasionally spar now, and that's basically it. What really distinguishes me, though, I feel is my collection of swords and other interesting trinkets(Dreamcatchers, skulls/bone parts, shiny objects, etc.) I'm still expanding my collection of katakanas, currently about six or seven strong, and also have a few interesting things hanging up on my walls and cabinets. I collect almost crap you could imagine if it's interesting enough ;D And finally, I'm also a advocate of studying certain topics, particularly biology. I read up on the basics and advanced, wiki anything that sounds or looks interesting, and will basically leap to the ends of the Earth to find out what a single term means and how it works. Genetics, chemosynthesis, and microbiology; that's my candidates for college majors. (currently interested in biology) And a good subject it is too! If you ever come into a Barnes & Nobles as I did a few hours back, I would recommend looking in the what's-it-called section with all the topics like chemistry, biology, etc. I bought a biology guide there a while back, and I still read it whenever I should be listening to something else!

Whoops, forgot one! The part about collecting swords reminded me... I'm also an avid knife collector, though not really an expert. I try to buy a knife any time I go on a trip, mostly pocket knives. Currently I have 16 folding knives and 7 fixed blade knives, as well as three home-made knives that I made in the forge behind my house, in my possession, as well as a real bayonet (I believe its from World War II, but if they weren't used during that war there's a distinct possibility that it was from World War I) and an aluminum-wall hanger sword with a stainless steel blade that has dulled edges. I got all of my fixed blade knives from my dad, one after another, and the pocket knives have come to me from another hobby I've forgotten, Boy Scouting, for various things, as well as purchases on every out-of-state boy scout campout we've had where we went into a store that sold them and from many vacations in places nearby like Indiana, Pennsylvania, and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I also collect bones, and dead animals. I currently have a coyote skull, a pair of deer antlers, a cat skull, a deer leg bone that I adapted one lazy summer afternoon into a kind of small club, a bird skeleton with some mummified flesh keeping it together, and 4 petrified bats. Thanks for the advice about Barnes and Noble, there's one at the local mall so I might check that out.

I actually don't have many hobbies. The few I have though would be drawing/sketching/"other" art mediums. I fancy myself an artist (albeit a bad one ), I'll be going down to the local art gallery in the next month or so and asking them to look at a few things of mine. I write a few poems here and again, nothing of much talent but I try. I bike, although at the moment my rear tire is flat after hitting a snow bank too hard and rupturing it (like along the roads have after plowing) going home from work one day. I like to hike and climb when weather permits. Recently moved to this area and haven't been able to explore too much as it's painfully cold at the moment, but from what I understand there are plenty of paths and trails to hike and bike through, as well as a place called Hawk mountain which is amazing. I'll hopefully be going there multiple times over the next passing summer(s). And it's able to tie in with drawing, as I'll go somewhere that has a nice view and do a sketch out, or take a photo and draw it out in charcoal at home. love that stuff. I enjoy reading, always up for a good book. and of course, video games. I used to play D&D but all the people I played with live an hour away from me now, it's not practical to go down there when I work such crazy hours. And with my social ineptness I find it hard to make friends, doesn't help that I'm graduated from highschool, and in that area of life where I'm not in college yet. And moved away from my familiar to a small town of 4500. Although I do quite prefer it here. If I can find something though, I would like to start it up again. Playing as a necromancer, always loved the bastards. I've just started GuildWars, and you'd never guess what class I've taken up. Just a trial edition for the moment, plan on getting the game sometime this week. No chat functions, as well as a few other features I've missed out on. I think that's it though. Unless you want my obsessions as well...

My main hobby would be video games. I don't get a lot of time, having a family, but I've been playing video games since before some members of this board were alive! I've gone through ancient relics in the 80's like the Amstrad 464 and the Commodore 64, the Sega Master System and Megadrive in the 90's, even had an Atari Jaguar at one point (only so I could play AVP, natch) and then I moved on to the Playsation 1, then the Playstation 2, and I'm currently rocking the Xbox 360. I used to love single player campaigns, but it's fair to say I'm now addicted to COD 5 WaW multiplayer, currently approaching level 3 of prestige and being ranked in the top 30,000 out of 2,000,000 on Hardcore team Deathmatch.
Aside from that, I like to go swimming with my son, I love to read books, and went through 5 of 'em in January. Every so often I like to write, mainly short stories, but sometime I think about going on longer and then get bored and try a new idea - I have about 4 unfinished stories knocking about.
TV/movie wise - anything supernatural, or most sci-fi. AVP, Star Wars are my two main sci-fi things, but I also love anything related to werewolves, zombies or vampires. I don't watch a massive amount of telly, but I've watched Prison Break and Dexter from the start and think they're amazing.
Musically, I like to listen to allsorts. As stated in a similar thread, I like songs, not artists. Songs on my my music player range from Dr Dre to Dire Straits, from The Rolling Stones to The Charlie Daniels Band.

If this were to have been asked some time ago I would have replied with reading, writing and drawing. But now that time as passed and I'm busy with work, I'd have to say that those still remain my hobbies but not as active as they once were. For now, my main thing is reading manga, watching anime, and photoshoping. hehe, I love to photoshop. though lately I haven't had the sufficient inspiration to create something. Other than that, I like to video edit and create my own AMV. By the way, at the moment, my latest hobby is growing apples from apple seeds. so far 12 seedlings have sprouted and have developed their first couple of leaves. 3 more have barely sprouted and are showing some promise for the future. As for the others they still need time. hehe, I got like 3 dozen seeds that I still need to see sprout. As for the type of apple, I have no clue. I did some research and found out that growing apples from seeds may end up with surprising results... especially from those seeds that come from a hybrid apple such as the fuji apple which I am trying to grow. I read that in a case as that, the seedlings may revert to their parent breed of apple, which this case would be a delicious red or a jennet apple. Which ever the result may be I'll see. I still got like 6 years to produce fruit. Other hobbies that I have at the moment... *thinks a bit* Playing with my pet birds, and maintaining my pond and my pond koi. I just love to relax and watch those little guys swim around. And... lets see.... I think thats it. I might have other hobbies but I can't remember at the moment.
