Well, I've pretty much been checking the place like. Every day. Literally, every day of the week.
Unfortunately, this place is seeming to be incapable of holding the interest of new members, and many of the old have long since left the place.
I haven't a clue why, but this place seems to only attract and hold the attention of a few idiots. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying ALL people here are idiots. I'm sure those who are not included know who they are.
But, the thing is, it has come to be inactive. At least, anything I see or am interested in is. For instance, in RPs, I've had two or three that fail instantly because of inactivity for seemingly no reason, loss of interest, or people being too stuck up to continue on. So, it's rather disappointing.
Well. I'm done with that. I'm done waiting. I'm done with the stubbornness. I'm done with the loss of interest.
So, with that, I am going to take a long, possibly permanent break from the place. I know it probably seems like I'm overreacting, but when nothing happens, I'm afraid this thing can't hold up. Especially with such a narrow-sighted bastard as myself. I have nothing better to do, normally. Well, I feel I'm wasting my time now. Nobody I knew gets on. Even less people I LIKED get on.
On a further note, it seems to me that there is an extreme lack of planning here. In all the time I spend here, I never see any of the old mods here. Not a damn one, 'cept Steg'in. And even as all of these new mods got promoted, some of them weren't active before, and now none of them are active, either. (No offense, guys. It ain't personal. Just saying it matter of factly.)
So, I am truly, truly sorry. If anybody wishes to still speak to me, I'll be on AIM and MSN messengers under Crypto136136 and thirdsystemsarmy@hotmail.com, in that order.
Goodbye for a while.

Well, I've pretty much been checking the place like. Every day. Literally, every day of the week. As have I, well Monday to Friday anyway... I second that motion, I don't RP anymore purely because they die a horrible death as I start to enjoy them. See this I disagree with, mainly because mostly the other mods are on, they just might not feel the need to make a post to announce the fact. Michael, Orthrus, Hannibal and Adara have all been online in the past 3-4 days, which considering that this is around 95% of our active Gmods, is pretty good. I know some of the other mods aren't around as much, and I hoped that the Mod positions some of the new ones were given would be enough to keep people here even when they felt the need to go somewhere else when others left, but you live and learn. Joker comes and goes with the wind, The General doesn't come by as much as he doesn't want to face up to the pwning I gave him on COD 4 last month on HTD , and the rest? I don't honestly know, although even Sara posted today. It's just a case of there's not that much input on the board to hold people's attention. This might be down to the fact that since the board's inception in 2004 there's always been something to talk about, Pred-wise. The first AVP, the second APV, all the questions about books, comics and video games, but for the moment the well has dried up. The novels aren't half as popular as Dark Horse would have liked, but they did release the anthologies a few months back which I though might have stirred up a bit more interest. I think we need to actively look at starting new topics or bumping old ones, I might start and maintain a new Xbox thread, for those who play, especially online like Michael, The General and myself. We'll see. This is your decision Stoneheart, (Stoney is my nickname so I'm not shortening it!), some people will go, some will stay, so take care of yourself and keep an eye on the place if you fancy coming back when it picks up again.

Well, I'd say we're going to miss ya. We do log on a lot man, honestly I just haven't found anything to really post in. I never liked such irrelevant (in my opinion) threads like the "what are you doing now" things, so I avoid those, and many questions are answered by other people as it is. So we are on, we just...don't really...have much to say. For every intelligent person on this planet there are two idiots. Unfortunately the internet makes some people's stupidity more accessible to others, and they seem to congregate at any scifi/teenageangst/wannabedarkness+goth/other websites more than anywhere else. Most likely becase these areas have mindless gorefests or science fiction that they're actually capable of understanding But I'm emphasizing on that too much. When you think about it very few true psychos and idiots come here. Out of all 1000 members, we've had maybe...what, twenty people that actually deserve to be called an idiot? Not to mention a few complete psychotics and retards too. Of course, maybe a quarter of those 1000 actually ever post, but hey. RPGs...well, like you said, they just die. Nonetheless, I've had fun RPing on this board. Granted, I'm far from the best RPer around, and I probably have the most twisted and screwed up character here next to the mutated/mafia/human/yautja/badblood/ghostrider/demonoid guy, but I've had a lot of fun playing with you and hope you also had some fun times. As far as RPing goes, I'd say it's a lost cause. We don't have many really devoted players (it's only a game after all) and they just don't really last. I considered adding a new angle involving factions, but doubt that would work out with our numbers. Oh whatever. I might throw in a Yautja science thread sometime, see what we can come up with. What I really work best with is medicine, military technology, and some scientific fields, none of which are really heavily discussed here. The only thing I can really find to do is breaking down Predator vs threads. It's sad, I know . You're a fun guy and it's been good having you here. Hope you have good times man. Check back every couple months or so, maybe the board will have boomed again. Setg, I'll be playing Cod4 online on my own computer in a month or so. Once I finally update my bloody graphics card anyway. Maybe I can find you online sometime, though I mostly stick to one hardcore S&D server.

Well,
I won't beg anyone to reconsider their decision, so, whatever you choose, we'll still exist.
But, most of that post just read like it was chock full of bitterness and pissy kid-like, "I want it now!!!!".
You're probably not going to like this but I am known for my blunt assessments and delivery. Most people who know me either consider that a nice trait, or a scathing fault.
I'm not going to say whether or not I've been logging in or out, as the bottom of the page usually states who's been on, and you can always check, Last Log In in people's profiles.
Everyone who has been trying to keep this place active has tried, you can't be upset at people if they don't like the topics discussed. That's like trying to twist people's arms to get them to like you. The more you push, the less likely they're going to stand you.
The vets here have covered EVERY venue regarding this franchise, what else is there for them to explore? The new gen reads up, (most do) so they have nothing new to ask.
I would imagine that the fact that those joining aren't asking about this or that is a compliment about how extensive the conversations on said subject have been.
Now, let's see how active you've been:
Taking a break... on Nov 20th, 2008 at 11:27pm Re: Another Silent Period on Oct 18th, 2008 at 8:39pm Re: Predator: Armored Titan on Sept 13th, 2008 at 1:27am Re: Predator: Armored Titan on Sept 12th, 2008 at 5:03pm Re: Predator: Armored Titan on Aug 31st, 2008 at 5:01pm
Those are your last stats.
I don't want to come off as a bitch (though I know I am) but I'm really getting tired of people throwing bitch fits when THEY aren't being as active as they can.
Why leave all the planning to the mods? We're regular members with the ability to keep people in line. That. Is. It. This is a community, and as such, depends on EVERYONE who is here (active, of course). Do not expect from us, what you are not willing to give.
I've started (I think) two topics in the last two months, and I'M on vacation with my parents while taking care of my kids without Hannibal's help.
These are my last stats:
Re: #*%(# Hannibal! on Nov 15th, 2008 at 3:14am Re: #*%(# Hannibal! on Nov 14th, 2008 at 1:37pm Re: #*%(# Hannibal! on Nov 12th, 2008 at 1:30pm Re: #*%(# Hannibal! on Nov 7th, 2008 at 9:22pm Re: Another Silent Period on Nov 7th, 2008 at 9:13pm
I'd say that's about as much as can be expected from any member.
So, as far as you being patient...yeah, you might want to rethink that, considering how long the "New-Old" vets have been here. (AKA Han and I) We've been waiting, and waiting rendered us with members like Orthrus, who is not only a plus to the community, but a damn good conversation buddy.
I didn't want to come off strong, (though I know I have) which is why I didn't respond to this as soon as I read it, which btw, was the day you posted it, but really, to point fingers for your decision to leave is just plain melodramatic crap.

As previously stated, it seems that almost all topics about Predator have been covered over a broad spectrum of topics, showing mutliple opinions and points of view. Obviously, people join a Predator board to discuss Predator, not to have a new hang out spot. If they wanted that they would go to a general messageboard. Since everything has been covered (and I remember there being a topic-boom a few years ago) the forum becomes more of a knowledge database for all things Predator; much like the site except showing more opinions. So it's a given that more people are joining ang less are posting. Making friends and talking with them is a bonus, but once you exchange MSNs, AOL, whatever it may be, then the board, becoming a means of connection becomes useless. I remember there being A LOT more threads in the Predator General than the off topic general, but as all half-decent ideas soon burned out, people migrated and proceeded to talk there. So that brings up the question of 'why don't people discuss in the Off Topic boards?' All predator fans are like-minded people, and coming under the same banner can all relate to the Predator boards. The same can't be said about Off-topic, where people don't share similar interests.
Well I'm still here, I post when I'm interested in something, I growl when growling is needed, and I ban when I feel like a hardcore mother*pauk*er. Kidding, but yeah I still visit each day. I played with Set'g-in on Live yesterday, my Kiwi connection was a no-hoper and kills were very difficult.
So you can leave, and I understand your reasoning, but your decision will not help to bring life back to the board.

One of the reasons I left was because I was widly misunderstood due to my immaturaty at the time. Also because I failed to convey a strong enough message for everyone to understand me.
But I return though to see the old forums again, and this thread summed up some of my questions. How different are the boards now since I left? And as I guessed it's becoming less interesting, mainly because everythings already been talked about, all the noobs lack maturaty to hold on proper conversations. Back in the old forums, in which I was a normal resident of, there were nothing but honorable, mature people. All the topics were well thought out and interesting and no one made unfair moves. RP was great also, very compelling and creative, and typical all fair. I'm not saying it still can't be that way, but I've noticed a long dark spiral down from the time I was upset and left till now.
Perhaps it is because of the lack of interest and all, but that only makes you thrive to become more creative with topics. One thing I would suggest is try to get people active with activities and such, and if need be start a mud rp based to attract attention. With as many people who come here, not one of them wouldn't be interested in direct, more rule set, interation with friends and such, but of course that would be my idea.
Another good idea would to be for 2-5 people to get together and create a daily or weekly story depending on how long you want it to be and publish it on the forums, I bet no one wouldn't be interested as long as it's very interesting and true to yautja behavior and natural aspects of their life. I've atempted this myself once, I actually got very far and a lot of interest.
If anything for the sake of keeping people active, create an SF land for Yautja (Second Life: for those who don't know, it's a huge community of maybe over millions of people depending on where you go who basically, live a second life) which would bring a more graphical game experience. Sure this may detract attention away from the boards, but then again it will be used to discuss more specific talkings that would be better for the board rather then the SF community.
I'm just simply stating my ideas for future referrence, but the reason why I post them here, is because you can be more creative with the board and get more activity if you truely wanted to instead of leaving. Also, if you remember, I even decided to try to create a predator like game for this community, yes I have failed at that but only to get into the music business. I still pursue to create games, but perhaps a few more years into the future I can scramble up a team and create a dream.
Anyways, Take it easy for the while, just think about being creative rather then quit because there is no creativity going on. There's always something to be done.
Your's Truly, Rebornedpredator
