Led Zepplin is responsable for rock and roll just as Black Sabbath is responsable for heavy metal. Both shape who I am very much so. I owe much to Led Zepplin. I have three words for you Stairway To Heaven. Nuff Said. I agree and disagree. Truly I think Led Zeppelin was one of the true starters of heavy metal. Listen to their first album the song my name is based from, Dazed and Confused. It has the sound of a heavy metal song, definently in the solo. Many metal bands have cited Led Zeppelin as an influence, and truly most bands take alot of their inspiration from Sabbath and Zeppelin. Both bands were heavy figures in the genre, but Black Sabbath does get more credit becase of the heavier sound they put out. They both started the style of metal which the many bands followed. Lots of bands have followed both bands, lots of my friends don't listen to sabbath but listen to zeppelin and consider zeppelin the point at which many bands followed in someways. While I prefer Zeppelin, sabbath still is good and deserves much, much credit. It's been quoted that Zeppelin set the image for idel rock bands, and Sabbah for the ideal metal band. I agree, both bands have been some of the most influential bands ever, and it's a good thing both bands came out and united, most other bands have followed in their footsteps, some have succeded and became popular, others haven't.The thing about Zeppelin though, is they've released bluesy songs, and acoustic songs, and softer songs which has strayed some away from calling them metal, but I think that just shows how diverse their skills are.

Yeah. You make sense there. I agree...and what we both can DEFINETLY agree on is that L.A. trash glam rock bands like Van Halen pretty much suck. They made metal/rock a cookie cutter thing and once it gets like that its just not cool anymore.

Van Halen wasn't glam! Van Halen was another breed and many people love Van Halen. I like Van Halen he was a great guitar player. Now I hate glam metal. Listen to it more, you will be able to see the skill that he puts into it. Glam bands are the ones that are almost punk-like, but are harder music. Bands like Poison. Glam is horrible and shouldn't be called metal. What's sad is Pantera was originally a glam metal band. Don't Believe me? Google it on images, it looked horrible.

Pantera, glam? I will hear no such thing! Blasphomy! Lies! Slander!
And as far as Van Halen goes? Not my bag-o-chips. Any band that had the stupid L.A. hair and make up look with their stupid-ass Power balad is Gay L.A Metal. As said from one of the guys in the story of metal. Also saying that metal is not supposed to be pretty or glamorus. L.A. can suck my nads. It ruins everything.

Well, we can have differing of opinions. I don't *love* van halen, all I listen to is the first album. It was a good one, their best imo. But yes Pantera did start out as glam. Also Dimebag cites Van Halen as a big influence, but moreover Ace Frehley. Anyways, yes, la glam sucks horribly, and I agree 100% with you on that.
