Review- The Hills Have Eyes.
Remake of the 1977 Wes Craven Classic
Summary- When the government was testing nukes, in the Nevada desert(this is historical fact) there was a small town, where the population decided not to leave(this is not.) The radiation mutated their genes ect ect, you know the drill, hideous mutated people bent on homicide. A family on vacation gets lost and ends up in the middle of the kill zone.
Sound: This movie really delivered on sound. I liked the perky music they used in the opening. Nice contrast to the visuals...But the part where it really wowed me was the electric guitar playing "The Star Spangled Banner" in the background during the scene where Doug escapes the house. That's when you know he's gonna start kicking ass. A lot of people think if you notice the music, it's a bad sign, that it pulls you out of the story and detracts from the movie watching expirience. I'm not one of those people. 9
Effects: The visual effects were middling to crappy. I give it a 3.5 It was obvious most of their budget went towards...
Gore: The body count only hit 12, but all but one were graphic, gorefilled and delicious. 8.5 on the Gore.
Plot: It was pretty darn predictable. I blame the cinematographer. Actually, it probably wasn't his fault at all, but I feel like hurling accusations. With very few exceptions(those being the fate of Big Bob and the second dog, Beast,) I saw it all mile in advance. They pretty much threw it in the audiences face.....(DO YOU SEE THE BIRDS!! THEY'RE TOAST, OK!?! THE BIRDS, THEY'RE GOING TO DIE!!!) This is just one of the little things, I didn't want to spoil the movie too badly. Anyway, plot was predictable, about what you'd expect for one of these things. I give it a 6, only because of the two things I didn't see coming.
Total this movie earned a 6.75(that's 6 and 3/4 for those of you without your calculators handy.) This is Econdha, logging out.
