Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth is the most horrifying game i have ever played. It is based on book written by my personal favorite author H.P Lovecraft(Howard Philip's Lovecraft) and takes place in the 1920's.
One thing that makes this game unique is the fact that NO health bars, ammo bars or alike ever appears on the screen. This gives an feeling that you in the game. Since you can't monitor your health this way you have too be aware of what you are doing. For example if you get attacked by something that cuts you and leaves a wound you have too get it fixed(using medkits you find) if you don't fix it your health slowly deteriorates and your sight becomes gray and you slow down and can't run and eventually dies.
The game is based on H.P Lovecraft books "Call of Cthlulhu", "The shadow over Innsmouth" and some part of the game is taken from his book "Dagon". In Call of Cthulhu: Dark Corners of the Earth you play a private detective Jack Walters that is put on a weird case revolving a weird cult and The Order of Dagon. You don't have to know anything about H.P Lovecraft or Cthluhu to enjoy the game.
Here is some of the features of the game:
* Battle your worst nightmares: Fight enemies using the environment, powerful and evil artifacts, alien technology, and authentic 1920s weaponry.
* Keep your wits about you: Dynamic sanity system results in hallucinations, panic attacks, vertigo, paranoia and more!
* Beware the hunters: Advanced A.I. system enables enemies to roam freely, open doors, and track you down single-handedly or in groups.
* Immerse yourself in Cthulhu: First person perspective immerses you in the world and lets you experience the action through Jack’s eyes. Explore, fight, and solve puzzles.
* Explore dark, alien places: Visit Lovecraft’s famous locations from quaint towns to strange, alien locations including Deep One City. Drink in the incredibly detailed real-time graphics with atmospheric lighting and dynamic shadows. One thing that really creeps me out is when the vibration is on in your controller Jack's heartbeat is felt in your hands, so when you see or hear something that has an effect on Jack his heartbeat increases and you can feel and see what he sees. This happened to several times when he saw something that would cause this my heartbeat began to go faster and faster as i played the game and even 10 minutes after i stopped my heart was still moving very fast. This is a really scary and realistic effect. I strongly recommend that you try this game.
