1. You can play with any character that you like within the limitations of an RPG context. Characters can not be invincible or unbeatable. Omniscience, omnipotence, and other such qualities have no place here. Such characters are known as 'god' characters.
2. You can use as many characters at a time as you like, however you must limit one character or one character set per RPG. In other words, you can not role play with two different characters against yourself within an RPG. You can use one or multiple characters in one RPG, provided that they are all treated as one group under your posts.
3. Characters can not change over time. If you start with a mutant/alien/supernatural-being/etc. then that character stays as such. If you can't make up your mind as to who and what your character is, then make new ones - do not turn the same character into a totally different creature constantly. A character's personality, capabilities, and background can change over time, but must stay consistent within the realms of plausibility.
4. Do not play as characters which do not exist in the context of an RPG. Vampires have no place in a zombie thread. You may play as an out of context character only with the permission of the thread-maker, which should be posted by the thread maker in the first post of their RPG.
5. Do not create RPGs without plot. An RPG must have a plot, no matter how simple or basic, and it must have an end-game in mind. An RPG should not trudge on with countless posts which turn into a quagmire with no progress. It doesn't matter what you come up with, so long as the participants of the RPG have an objective to be driven to for an eventual end.
RPGs which have no plot or end will be considered "community" threads and should be posted in the community board, not as stand-alone RPGs.
6. Characters may not auto-kill eachother without permission from both participants. This same rule applies to maiming and crippling to some degree: a post does not require consent to cripple another character, but the victim always has the opportunity to counter the attack and save themselves so long as it is within the realms of possibility and plausibility.
7. Do not violate the laws of physics to such a degree that you can do anything you want in an RPG with no limitations. Keep in mind that all universes have rules. It doesn't matter if you're a Jedi-Knight or a ghost, there are always rules and limitations. Create them and stick to them.
8. Legibility is a must.
9. Lengthy posts are always preferable to one-liners.
10. Do not under any circumstances control another players character in terms of assuming the actions and thoughts that person would take. This goes from large to small. Do not assume another player's character would be surprised at something or would become pissed off at something else. Do not assume they would react in a particular way. If you intend to engage another character, then it is recommended that the two of you discuss the intended story and collaborate on it, allowing the both of you to make proper, fleshed out, story-laden posts where you control eachother's characters per post after having agreed with eachother how it would go.

Smack Upside the Head Rules:
These following rules are not rules. Just be advised that if I see any such rules violated, I will mentally smack you upside the head.
1. Magazines are not clips. Do not confuse the two.
2. Cartridges/rounds are not bullets. Do not confuse the two.
3. Assault rifles, submachine guns, machineguns, sniper rifles, and machine pistols are all different things. Do not confuse them.
4. Shotgun shot/slugs are not referred to as bullets outside of a physics classroom.
5. A sniper and a marksman are two different things. Do not confuse the two.
6. Marines and Soldiers are two different things. Do not confuse the two.
And if you ever, ever take both dog-tags from a military corpse in an RPG, I will personally reach out and verbally smack you upside the head.
