This thread is specifically a tutorial meant to instruct those of you who are posting fiction for the first time.
Though there isn't much to this, there are a few key rules everyone must follow to make it less problematic for the author and the Staff.
Three Simple Rules:
1. There are no word limits of course, you can post a story as long as you'd like.
2. If you don't like to be criticized, DO NOT POST YOUR WORK. I cannot emphasize this enough. Though people may pet you and coddle you, it is frivolous for anyone to think that their work is flawless. If you do not like having people dissect your work, either post something like:
"I'm only looking for positive critique," or do not post at all.
3. If your story has any adult content, be it language, violence, sexual situations (though sexual situations should only be light in main Off-Topic Fiction forum) you MUST, and I will emphasize this again, MUST POST A WARNING AT THE BEGINNING OF THE STORY! Also, if you're posting a story with characters that are not yours, make sure to put up a DISCLAIMER, giving whoever's characters you're using, credit.
Example:
Disclaimer: I do not own Underworld, or any of its characters.
Warning: This story contains violence, strong language, and sexual innuendos. If you don't like that sort of thing, don't read any further!
Yes, these are just plain examples, but, even something like this can keep everyone safe from angry kids and their parents.
If your story contains described intercourse, the story MUST go in the Adult section of this. Of course, no one is allowed access to this section unless one proves one's maturity throughout the entire board. So it is probably in any author's best interest to simply keep the story clean of sex. (Just some advice)
Violators:
Now, as far as breaking any of the said rules, well, it would be up to E-Churchill, and anyone else who catches said offender to come up with a solution.
Some more Advice:
Please, if you have the time, use the spell checker provided by the board at the bottom of every post you're about to make. I mean, you don't have to, but, don't expect to get infinite praise for misspelled and grammatically incorrect chapters. It's not going to happen.
It'll make your work not only readable, but readers will get the gist of your story, if they can understand it.
That's it. I hope that helps!
