A thread for discussing all upcoming games for 2012.
It's still early in the year so I suspect we'll be getting a lot of updates here.
The games I'm looking most forward to so far Is Mass Effect 3 coming out In a few months.
Alan Wake's American Nightmare. I can't remember exactly when It's released, but I loved the first game. And this Is an XBLA exclusive, and Is said to raise the bar for what an XBLA game can deliver.
The Secret World MMO sounds pretty interesting. I may very well check It out.
And lastly Halo 4. I've been waiting for this since Halo 3's ending, and It's coming out "Holidays 2012".
Anybody else looking forward to 2012 gaming wise?

But my laptop couldn't even handle Witcher 2. Which is a shame. Geralt's a badass. And the game looked so pretty. Doom 4 would be fun. Anything in development hell is something I don't wanna play. Look what it did to Duke. Well, in Blizzard's head, that means about a year after we say it's gonna come out. Ala Heart of the Swarm. Still not out. Games I'm looking forward to in no particular order... Silent Hill Downpour Silent Hill hd collection Resident Evil 6 Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City Any and all Skyrim DLC Borderlands 2 Star Craft 2: Heart of the Swarm (Which I doubt will come out this year) And something we're all forgetting about. The supposed Alien Colonial Marines. It's supposed to come out this year right?

I'm afraid I don't follow? Blizzard has nothing to do with the Halo franchise?
Sure, unless It's been canceled again.

In no particular order...
- Silent Hill: HD collection - Metal Gear Solid: HD collection - Zone of the Enders: HD collection - Devil May Cry: HD collection (been waiting to play all these games again, after so foolishly loaning my PS2...)
- Tomb Raider (a seemingly whole different take on the Tomb Raider genre, looks mighty promising so far)
- Silent Hill: Downpour (incurable Silent Hill fan here)
- Way of the Samurai 4 (i own and completed all previous ones, and it happens to be my second favorite type of game; swordplay)
- Prototype 2 (kinda curious where they're gonna go with the story)
- Resident Evil 6 (although they've long lost their Resident Evil spirit throughout the years, i'll still get it as part of the collection, unless it ends ups being unbearably bad)
- Dead Space 3 (is there any hope for a 2012 release?!)
Well, there you have it. There may be one or two more, but I'd have to use more brain cells than I'm able to spare right now... lol

Halo 4 maybe. If that Metal Gear comes out I'll probably get it. The only thing I'm really excited for is Mass Effect 3. Holy shit I cannot wait, I'm definitely going to nerd out and make a character and play through all 3 in a row and then shit myself out of sheer amazement at the greatest storyline for a trilogy in gaming that I've seen.

The Mass Effect 3 Demo has launched.
I just tried the Solo part of the Demo. Fucking amazing. Now I need to pull my shit together and play through 1 and 2 and make all the right choices.

Those first 2 Trailers were incredible. Just 2 days left. In other news, Assassin's Creed III cover art has been released, so that's definitely on my list as well.

The only thing that i'm really looking forward to is Mass Effect 3 which has just come out I suppose if I got an Xbox I would definately get Halo 4 but if the 720's coming soon apparently i'll hold on and wait till Halo goes on that. I've lost interest in waiting for Alien: Colonial Marines it's still meant to be on it's way but considering the lack of updated information on it I can't see it been released soon aside from that I don't know I haven't had a good look into upcoming games recently so really the only thing i'm after is Mass Effect 3.

I'm on playthrough 2 of mass effect 3 right now. It was that good. Best game ever, even if the endings were a little underwhelming.

Believe it or not, I'm still processing the games story as a whole. I'm not quite ready to accept the endings as "underwhelming".
EDIT: I've been reflecting, and thinking about the endings since I finished the game, and I've actually grown to liking them more. I don't think they are as bad as the public seems to think.

I far one am pumped up for Aliens: Colonial Marines but more importantly Halo 4. 343 has prooven that they will bring back glory to the Halo universe. The only thing I hope they never do is chow John's face. The original "Master Chief" was meant to be you, like Noble Six. It was supposed to be you assuming the role of Master Chief. Fans demanded a name for the hero after Halo: Combat Evolved, therefore Bungie was forced to give him a name. John was not meant to have an identity, they should let it be so John can look any way you want him to. But Aliens: Colonial Marines also looks promising so I'm keeping my hopes up. I also can't wait for the next Fallout game for the fact that Bethesda got privilege for online multiplayer Fallout will come out with an XboxLive/PSN multiplayer! Gaming will be going through a revolution with Assassin's Creed 3, Halo 4, Aliens:Colonial Marines, the new Fallout and more. From here on out, gaming is taking off and advancing for the greater good.

Please don't double post just to correct a typo. Just use the "Modify" button instead. I'm curios, how do you think those games will revolutionize gaming beyond what already exists? I suspect both Assassin's Creed, and Halo 4 will follow their own established formulars, with only minor tweaks, and updated graphics. I don't think they're going to be showcasing something entirely new. And Aliens Is just another FPS game. I mean seriously, It's been in development hell since 2001, and I really doubt they're going to be revolutionizing FPS games, or even the established AvP games. I fear It's gonna turn out like Duke Nukem Forever, lots of hype, mediocre game.

Well I mean, Aliens: Colonial marines won't do much, but the fact AC 3 and Halo 4 are coming out it starting a whole new dimension in their universe. Plus, the fact Bethesda gets MMO means a whole new experience with RPG. Heck, I didn't expect so much from MW2, AC: Revelations, Skyrim, Gears 3, Mortal Kombat, or even Halo. But based on previous history, video games have proven to make big differences. When I was younger, people called you a geek or something for playing games or something, but now that's what half our population does! Halo especially is a crucial element of gaming as it is one of the main franchises. From here on out what 343 does with Halo with be watched carefully by fans and judged very critically. What they do with their series thought to be done with will leave a big impression on the future. If Halo 4 is not worth all the hype it is getting then expectations will be lessoned and the franchise will die. If it is very good it will bring back life to the franchise and gaming. I especially can't wait to see Fallout's multiplayer. But I didn't necessarily mean gaming would revolutionize by these games but that in the past few years video games have improved at an extraordinary rate. From 2-D, to 3-D to motion detection and the way graphics have changed. Just when you think it's reached it maximum potential they come out with something else to make an even better experience.

Well I mean, Aliens: Colonial marines won't do much, but the fact AC 3 and Halo 4 are coming out it starting a whole new dimension in their universe. I agree that Halo 4 Is starting a new dimension for the franchise. But AC 3 Is just going to wrap up It's story. We've known It was coming for a while now, but I don't think they're gonna change it up enough to make It stand out gameplay wise from Revelations. What MMO Is this? True. I'm afraid Halo 4 may begin to suffer from Episode 1 syndrome by the end of the year. I think that's a little extreme. I've seen statements like that a Lot on the Bioware forums regarding Mass Effect 3, but big franchises like Halo, and Mass Effect do not simply die out. Star Wars: Episode 1 was not a critically acclaimed master piece, and a lot of fans actually pretend the prequels never happened, but when It was re-released in 3D It still made tons of money, despite It's flaws. The same can be said about Halo. Reach was a really good game, and the first 3 Halo games likewise. I doubt some "mediocre" reviews for Halo 4 will doom everything Halo. True. Though I believe the only revolution of Video Gaming we'll see sometime soon Is when Microsoft, or Sony reveal their next gen platforms. That Is the fuel for gaming. Developers always try and do better than before, and push the limits. (It's also why Duke Nukem Forever took 14 fucking years to make, and publish.) I assume that's why my Battlefield 3 case has 2 discs, one for single player, and the other with HD content, and multiplayer. Same with Mass Effect 2 and 3. They're stuffing the discs full of awesome.
