So, 2012 might turn out to be a pretty big year, Star Wars wise.
In about 1 months time Episode 1: The Phantom Menace will be re-released in cinemas In 3D, and the other movies will follow suit over the next few years.
The Old Republic MMO game was released last year, and 2012 will show If it becomes a massive success, or just ends up like another Star Wars Galaxies.
The Clone Wars animated TV series Is in It's 4th season, and It's 5th season will start in September 2012.
George Lucas plans to retire, and he's made it abundantly clear that there will never be a proper Episode 7, or another movie Trilogy, even after he's died.
And the long rumored Star Wars Live Action TV series got a working title, "Star Wars: Underworld" and that might still happen in the not too distant future. Like the name implies It would focus greatly on the Underworld of the Star Wars universe, supposedly taking place between Episode 3, and 4. Rumors say Boba Fett could be a major character.
So here's a few things to discuss:
Will you go, and see Episode 1 In 3D, or are you among the group of people who wished Lucas never made the Prequels?
Do you watch The Clone Wars? If yes do you like it, and what do you expect from It's fifth season? I think It's safe to say It is getting close to the end.
And finally, The Star Wars Live Action TV series, any thoughts on that?

Only good thing about Episode one, was Darth Maul, and that he was a Zabrak. Otherwise the whole movie is pretty dull.
The TV show sounds interesting, I'd like a deeper look into it.
And Galaxies apparently did a lot of shit right for what it was, seeing as there were 15 year old vets in it. I don't think the new one's that in dept?

I think I'd quite enjoy re-watching episode 1 in 3D. Sounds like fun.
Clone wars? Didn't really get to watch much. my work schedule is too unpredictable to really sit down and never miss a show. Sad I know.
Live show? I think it'd be a little weird, however, I wouldn't mind watching it.

I'm a huge Star Wars fan, so I'll most likely watch episode 1 in 3D if I get a chance. It's too bad that there won't be a 3rd trilogy, I would love to see what happens after episode 6. At least we got the clone wars though, I've been following it and love it! I haven't watched season 4 yet, I'm waiting for the season to be over so I can watch all the episodes with out commercials and having to wait on the next episode. The live action sounds dope too, but honestly I would rather have episode 7 or a Force Unleashed made in to a movie! The first game was sick and it would've been awesome to see it made in to a movie.

There's a ton of books, and comics about that actually. All EU. But according to Lucas the story he wanted to tell ends In Episode 6, so If there was ever to be another trilogy (highly unlikely) I doubt it would have much to do with the other films. I was actually quite hesitant about watching It at first, but when I saw the first episode I got very into it. I love the way they portray the Clone Troopers as all different persons. The chances of getting Episode 7 are about the same as successfully navigating an asteroid field.

Problem with saying that, is they managed to successfully navigate the asteroid field...

Damn... Well they did have 4 of the 5 main characters on board. Of course they wouldn't get blown into a million pieces... Still, Lucas has made it clear that even after he kicks it there Is not to be any further movies.
If you want an outlook on what supposedly happens after Episode 6 there's books on it. But in all honesty the majority of them are complete shit. The writing is fine, and all but the stories are horrific.

I know about The Dark Empire trilogy which is episodes 7-9 basically, but I've never read them. I do own a few Star Wars legacy comics though and I love that they're expanding on the Skywalker legacy...
But when it comes to movies, I really think a Force Unleashed movie would be awesome, but another movie will most likely never happen

I've never read them personally, I've just read a lot about them, and I hate the concept fiercely.
I like the ideas behind that series better, I like that It takes place around 140 years after Episode 4, and really tells a new chapter in the Skywalker story. But alas It goes back to the massive cliche of most EU storylines.

That sounds really cool,I would love to see a little more in depth story on Boba Fett! It sounds like it could somewhat be like Star Wars Bounty Hunter the game, except instead of following Jango,it would be Boba. I had not even heard of the rumors of a Star Wars TV show, but it would be pretty cool to have a TV show no matter who it followed. As for the Episode 1 in 3D,I will not go see it,I have it in my video collection, and I don't see the need to go buy a ticket and see it in 3D when I own it,and can watch it as much as I want, minus the 3D,but I don't like 3D movies that much anyway. But that's my opinion. I did enjoy Episode 1 though,it was kinda dull as mentioned, but it was still good. I liked Episode 2 the best (far as the prequels go)...I liked Jango Fett and the whole Bounty hunter, clone war, battle, feel of that one. For the Clone wars,I have watched very little of it,but what I have seen was OK. I do hope we see a Live action TV show though, that sounds best out of what you mentioned...now I gotta go read up on it! Thanks for that bit of info!

The Phantom Menace in 3D well I suppose I could watch Darth Maul battle Obi Wan and Qui Gon in 3D but the rest of it I don't know. The Clone Wars TV series I didn't like that much I watched a few episodes from the first and second series but as I didn't like Attack of the Clones overly and Clone Wars stemed off this I didn't get into it very well perhaps I may give it another try but unlikely at the moment. Star Wars live action I think has a lot of potential and I think is an excellent decision as long as they can pull it off well. If another movie were made however unlikely that is or if a TV series (like a HBO series) could be made concerning the story of Starkiller in the first Force Unleashed would in my opinion be brilliant I think the story to it was much better than some of the prequel trilogies movie plots particularly Attack of the Clones but yeah I would love to see The Force Unleashed 1 as a TV series/Film.

Well, i don't care too much for the animated series but the rumored live-action television show I'd defiantly watch. Before i saw Predator, Alien, or played Halo, Star Wars was my big addiction. I prefer the original 3, episode 4,5, and 6. The originals are usually the best. But, there has never actually been a "bad" star wars movie. They are all good. My favorite character is General Grievous, for a reason i have no idea. I kind of wish George Lucas would make another, but perhaps it is in it's Best interest to go out at it's biggest point in fame. I mean, we don't want any movies rushed out and ruining the series. I wish the Old Republic MMO would go for a platform system rather than the computer( my computer can't handle the heat ) None the less Star Wars is a amazing franchise that I hope they continue to further expand through out video games!

Well, i don't care too much for the animated series but the rumored live-action television show I'd defiantly watch. Latest news on It Is that "It's still a few years away". No you really really don't. There's a reason MMORPGs don't get ported to consoles. My Xbox controller has about 14 buttons, which Isn't bad. But in an MMO you usually end up with more than twice that number of abilities. There simply isn't enough buttons or shortcuts on the controllers to make a game like TOR playable on consoles. You'd have to buy some new hardware, like a keyboard designed for Xbox/PS3 that plugs in. Very, Very good news on that front. Star Wars 1313. Do your eyes a favor and look at the gameplay videos on Youtube, or Gametrailers. That game will be incredibly awesome.

I forgot i made this thread, time for a Star Wars update.
The Clone Wars TV series got canceled after season 5 ended, and while they will produce the episodes meant for Season 6 they haven't announced when, where or how they will air them.
All upcoming LucasArts star wars games are canceled, this includes Star Wars 1313 (but they have stated that they are looking for a new developer to finish it), and a new game called Star Wars: First Assault that was supposed to be a Battlefield/Call of Duty like shooter game. From my understanding one or two other titles that were never announced also got canceled.
J.J. Abrams is directing Episode 7, and Lucasfilm want him to direct the other two films. Also, Disney wants to release a new Star Wars film every year starting in 2015. This may sou.. "may" sound, It sounds fucking horrifying, but look at what Disney is doing with the Marvel films. Anyone got complaints there? Anyway, Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill and Carrie Fisher are said to be/have been in talk with Disney about returning, but we don't know whether or not those negotiations were successful.
That's all for now folks.

Despite my dislike for the series I thought it was picking up a bit throughout the later seasons. No not 1313 that was one game I was actually really looking forward to playing hopefully it will get a new dev to finish it. J.J. Abrams was a great decision for this francise after seeing how well he pulled off his Star Trek universe I cannot wait. True Disney's Marvel films are incredible and have set the standard for great comic book films alongside the Dark Knight Trilogy although I hope that they do stop following Episode 9 of the planned trilogy at least for a while depending on how good it is. As for the original actors returning if they have accepted then in my view it's already bested the prequels ;D

So, now Disney has signed on EA for a multi year publishing deal. Juicy details Here. In short, Disney is letting EA publish future Star Wars game titles, developed by DICE (Battlefield series), Visceral Games (Dead Space series) and Bioware (Mass Effect and Dragon Age, also Knights of the Old Republic). And now every gamer believes (justifiably) that DICE will develop the rumored/canceled/mythical Battlefront 3, or maybe the unannounced title First Assault. Both games were shooters, Battlefront with both FPS and TPS elements, First Assault was rumored to be a Battlefield esque Star Wars title. It would also make sense for Visceral to finish (most likely with help from the former developers) the highly anticipated Star Wars 1313. I have no idea what Bioware would be developing for Star Wars. They're currently running the Star Wars MMO The Old Republic.

At E3 last month, DICE revealed that they are in fact developing a new Star Wars title simply named "Star Wars: Battlefront" for now. I also believe it will be using the Frostbite 3 Engine, so essentially it will be Battlefield 4 with Star Wars.

Hmm, I'm still on the fence about Disney buying Star Wars, but we'll see. Also this new Star Wars game sounds good as well. This is why I am a HUGE Star Wars fan and not a Star Trek fan. Reason #1: the Franchise is alive. Yes, I know star trek has a new movie coming out but people...its a totally different universe but I guess they gotta change it up since the last few movies were flops. Also reason #2 I like Star Wars: New books are being written all the time, I mean I have the Darth Bane trilogy and Damn those are pretty good. Okay, rant over, move along!
