The looming darkness that once hung gently in that warm night had become the reason for her to take such ominous action. He was gone... and nothing can bring him back. Not even the great love that they had at one point shared. A blade tainted with a crimson poison of betrayal had been driven through her already fragile shattered heart. There, beneath the waxy cover of the full moon, he lay… murdered beside a lonesome wild lily of the purest white. Driven by the unbearable pain of seeing his tattered body, she decided to end her pain and join her lover in the next life. Kneeling next to him, she took the katana which he once held proudly, and then drove it into her aching chest. Soon, the pain would be gone… just like her fleeting vision was gently sinking into the ever-stretching darkness… slowly sending her through that dark tunnel where at the end, the midnight lilies bloom.
Such sweet scent… so close… was she finally there? But why does the darkness still hold her in its enveloping embrace? Where was that beautiful wax bathed flower field? And he, Hajime? Would they not be together at last? Was it a cruel act of fate that they are to be apart even in the afterlife? Trickling despair trailed down her cheeks. This time there was no life which she could end with his katana.
“Open your eyes.” Called a gentle feminine voice. “I can feel your pain… for I witnessed it all.”
“Who are you?” She asked.
“Open your eyes and you’ll see…”
To be continued…
