I'm South African, but I have lived in Belgium. I also lived in Manchester UK for 2 years and have lived the last 2 years in Brisbane, Australia, and in April the clan is moving back to Manchester. My hb has itchy feet, so we travel a lot. He has been to 41 countries - but I hate to fly.

I AM of Mexican decent, and that slur, is just that, a RACIAL SLUR. By the way, if you're Spanish and I know you are, you'd know that every Mexican with any Spanish last name has SPANISH ancestry. I can trace mine back to Burgos. Sandoval is my Maiden name. So yeah, you may have been born in Spain, but you're not the only one with Spanish lineage.

My two daughters are Mexican, and I take offense to that remark.

Just shows you how ignorant you can be if you have not lived in a place where people actually do use that term. When I first read it, I thought that it was a quaint term used for people who grow coffee, like they call the people up here in Queensland Bananagrowers. But now that I know the serious meaning of the word - I apologise for the little chuckle I had.

Aussie born, Aussie bred. And damned well proud of it! Of course, I'm down in the deep south, so it's pretty isolated from the rest of Aussie down here. I think Joker's down here in Tas too, but I ain't sure.
So we've got some Poms eh? Beauty, I've always respected you guys, except at the Cricket (sorry, couldn't help it)

Beauty, I've always respected you guys, except at the Cricket (sorry, couldn't help it) That's ok, I understand, it's not like your country was created by England banishing off it's worst criminal elements to a previously uncharted country is it? Uhm - Aboriginal people have lived in Australia for thousands of years before the English invaded it. Also, not all migrants were convicts and the convicts that were sent here were murderes, they were petty thieves who got sent here for things like stealing a loaf of bread, or a bolt of silk. Murderes were usually excecuted. Queensland, Western Australia, South Australia and the Northern Territories were more or less populated by English commoners who were offered a free pass as well as landownership. So I don't think that that is quite true.
